Is this the ultimate long range cowboy rifle?
Why - yes. Yes it is.
It is also the butt-ugliest rifle ever invented too…
I loaded up some great big cast lead Postells and Money Points and went to the range. This pig could also shoot like a champ! One session was enough: I went home, got on the innernet and ordered in a precision vernier tang sight for it. The big buffalo gun didn’t quibble either… like any pig, it ate what was offered and loved it all. As long as it was big, heavy and slow… it shoots exactly where you point it. It would be pure blasphemy… but I almost want to put a scope on it!
If you’re in the market for a BPCR gun… do yourself a favour. Get past its looks. Just hold it and maybe fiddle with the action a bit. If ya don’t like it…fine, at least you had a look at it. But if it speaks to you…listen and obey.
You won’t be sorry.
Since when did John Browning invent the Remington Rolling Block?
ReplyDeleteMy class 3 (machine guns plus) buddy in So. Cal. showed up at our annual MLK birthday week end shoot, early 1990's. It was in Anza Borrego desert, on the no longer in use, Naval test range, with an original Remington Rolling block carbine, rechambered to 45acp. It was in "rode hard, "service" condition. In all my 74 years, I have never lusted over a single shot rifle like that. Sure, LOT'S of worthy single shots out there, but that beater 45acp rolling block is still stuck in my mind, rent free.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, It had original, simple sights, like a 22, but it was dead on out passed 50 yards, then hold over a little.
Hell, that would be deer worthy several yards more than a bow...if you ambushed it from a hidey hole, with a carefully placed shot, maybe.
Thought JMB did the Winchester Highwall....
ReplyDeleteIs this you, G?
