So here I am - half past midnight, had a nightmare, pooped the bed… and I’m up typing on the innernet because it’ll awhile before my circadian rhythms kick in and I can go back to sleep.
It was horrible. I dreamed I was that fag from a couple years back. He was that goof from the FBI or LAPD that went to the crapper and emptied his pockets to clean up afterward and get his everyday carry squared away - and then left and forgot his pistol and left it behind. What a stupid dream! Can’t remember if that guy got fired or not. Or if they ever recovered the firearm.
I suppose that’s what happens, though, when these tiny pocket guns get so light and comfortable that they just become too easy to forget they’re even there. It’d be bad enough to do that as a civilian… but as a cop? You wouldnt live that one down i don’t think…
So - whadda we got on the menu here? I am curiously indifferent when it comes to backup guns. I’d be happy with any one of those in the pic. But… a compact CZ75? Yeah… I could fall in love with that. I don’t do 9mm… but if I did, and had to do it seriously with a modern gun - the CZ75 or the Browning Hi Power would be my pick… but I wouldn’t bitch if I got stuck with any of the plastic guns I suppose.
If you’re buying… any one a those would make an excellent gift for your friendly neighborhood crime-fighting stubfart.

Toy guns for women and children. Get a M-1911 or a S&W model 29.
ReplyDeleteBodyguard .380 pocket gun. Colt .45 Defender shoulder holster for bad neighborhoods.
ReplyDeleteI carried a model 642 in my motorcycle jacket pocket. It was a stout jacket and that little heater just disappeared in there. I thought at the time that I could fire it without removing it from my pocket, I have read since that you will get a sleeve full of hot gas, I dunno about that. i live in Florida so I often front pocket carry a Keltec P3AT or a Ruger LCP. Bought a Sig P365 about a year ago, So far I am not satisfied with the holster I have, I think I prefer to carry at 4 oclock, appendex carry leaves me concerned about my femoral artery and my nuts.
ReplyDeleteGlock 30S. Easy to conceal and packs a punch. .45 with extedned mags gives 13 rounds and without is 10.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the best extreme concealable 45's in the real world. In this case "best" means reliable, accurate, carries enough ammo for likely unpleasant, urban, social engagements and is small enough. If something happens to it, you can quickly get another one JUST LIKE it, for $450-550US. Duplication, repeatability is vital for trained in muscle memory.
DeleteIf you were a little more susceptible to reason and logic, there's about a million compact/sub compact, double stack 9mm out there that are from $350-700.
For my comparison, my wifes Ruger Max 9 (10 round flush magazine, 12 round w/xtra cap. base pad) makes my baby Glock 26 (with the same capacity) look like a Clydesdale next to each other. They cost about $400.
Dr. Will Dabbs, an emergency room doctor in (I forget which big city) Texas, is a combat veteran. He says you can't tell the difference between 9mm, 40 and 45 in wound ballistics. They're all within a small percentage of effectiveness of each other.
You (psychotic) devotion to 45 ACP, only makes sense where recoil recovery time doesn't matter, on a square, one way, range.
Other than that, you seem lucid enough.
Lucider than me. You did this little "query" to suck me (and only ME) into this long winded, ALL KNOWING, masterful bit of knowledge and sage advice. Din't you!? I know you did. YOU'RE TRICKY!!
SIG P227
ReplyDeleteDid they ever sort out the jamming problem? No, they just discontinued it.
DeleteS&W 637 Performance center, hammer back light trigger for longer shots.
ReplyDeleteA CZ 75 pcr does it for me. I have two with action jobs from Cajun Gun Works. Light and accurate.
ReplyDeleteConcealed carry, not around here the shear though makes Turdeau and Carney's panties get soiled.
ReplyDeleteExile1981
S&W Model 940. Light, and uses 9mm.
ReplyDeleteI carry a Ruger LCP II .380 in a sticky holster in my right front pocket. I also carry a FEG PA-63 9x18 (think .380 on steroids) in the glove compartment in my car. It's in a leather holster and has two magazines.
ReplyDeleteThat being the case, I'd cheerfully recommend an S&W Md 642 airweight in .38 special. Five shots and dead easy to use. Wherever it is, all you have to do is pick it up, point it, and pull the trigger.
Sig 938
ReplyDeleteFilthie, your aversion to the 9mm cartridge is not factually based. The diameter is virtually the same as a .38, and fires similar weight projectiles faster than a.38, even +P loads. And as Clint Smith says about the failings of the 5.56, if the first one doesn’t have the desired outcome, shoot it again!
ReplyDeleteTo me, any of them would be a fine source of comfort.
ReplyDeleteAny of the wheel guns. Shoot and scoot.
