How much ya think that’s worth…?
I’ve seen low end boonie hats going for under $10.00 to around $30.00. I like them because a good one will last you as long as you want to wear it… generally up until they look like this one where you wipe your arse with them and throw them away.
But this one? Oh… she’s special!!! For $67.00 Canuckie - ya get that pre-distressed but oh so authentic “operators” vibe…? I like the net on top… could be handy if I’m goofing off and the old lady comes round to check on the progress of my chores: I just fill up the net with cabbage and leaves - and disappear into the foliage!!!

For an additional $300.00, you can get a haute couture head harness for night vision accessories..
I wonder what the goggles cost? Another $2000.00…? Not to be a liberal turd tamper… but do civilians really need night vision? I mean - great, if you’re into electronics and exotic optics as a hobby… but tactically?

I think if I was a squaddie and I had to roll with that rattle… you’d want that crap on a proper helmet…? There are times I think we actually NEED a complete financial breakdown and reset? One where people are forced to think before they piss money away.
Think I’ll ride with my current hat and leave this to the cool kids.

Sandals and socks, fashion disaster; threadbare jeans with knees hanging out; cool as
ReplyDeleteI was talked into buying a Tilley hat maybe 12, 15 years ago. I felt really stupid for spending that much fricking money on a damn boonie style hat. Now I love it. Still going strong. Sweat stains a plenty, many trips thru the washing machine, it's still good. Heard they were made in Canuckistan, then heard they were bought out and new ones are made in China, but Google says they are still made in Canuckistan. At one time contemplated buying another but the original is still good. Got my money's worth there.
ReplyDeleteI bought one and threw it away. Even I am too cool for Tilley… and I wear Crocs! ๐๐
DeleteMine last a long time, then wash, rinse repeat. They last years. I've tracked down GI surplus stores. They usually have "issue" quality hats for 2 or 3 times the cost of the knock offs.
ReplyDeleteREAL operators use REAL boonie caps! So do knock offs like me.
I can operate a chainsaw and my truck...and my 10/22!
Yup. Mine cost $ 35.00. And I thought that was too much money… the cheapies just look cheap though…
