The Albertans Winter Mirage

I really suffer at this time of year. I used to have no problem with it because me and my dawgs were air cooled. Cold air didn’t bother us one bit! I’d be out with the dawgs, ice fishing, camping… I didn’t stop for anything.

But I feel the cold now that I’m older. Winter overnighters in -20C no longer appeal. Long walks outside in cooler temps don’t appeal to the Niglet either. My little Nipper only goes out to pee and poop and that’s it. I have cabin fever like a mofo right now. And this is the hell of that: every year about this time the weather always reports a sweet little chinook ‘in just a couple days or a week…’ and then it never happens.

I need to get out with my rifle. I need to set under the stars and watch the northern lights and the flames of a campfire. Claustrophobia pushes in from all sides. I can’t breathe!!!

🤪

I see a break coming next Friday. I’m going to load my tent and dry goods in the dawgmobile. The second this cold weather breaks… I’m outta here. I better start packing. Y’all have a great Friday. If you’re getting good weather, drop everything and enjoy it if ya can. Spring is still a long way away…
