The US in USPS stands for Unbelievably Slow, or Stupid, depending on viewpoint (i prefer the latter). And the schmucks want a rate hike to lose things more effectively. Case in point: Had a package where my address was mislabeled. Went to the PO to pick it up. It was there, I was there, Juan Postalworker physically had it in his grubby hand and showed me the error. Instead of handing it to me and saving the cost, the USPS sent it back to the shipper. In Florida. I live in Alaska.
There's like still one fucking bill I pay by mail. So yeah, still buy stamps. The US stopped putting the dollar amount on the new stamps, they are painfully generic. But also, if there's a rate hike, you get to continue using the old stamps until they are gone with no big deal, since the stamps are considered sufficient for one envelope. I still remember in the past buying 2 cent stamps to add to my old stamps after a rate hike in order to make the new amount. No need to do that anymore. Also used to have a stamp collection as a kid, not sure where that's at. Maybe at my mom's house.
