Finished

So there she is… with a utility pouch affixed to the lower portion of the sheath, and the upper nylon part rebuilt in leather. I’m a hack at lashing… I just used 550 paracord to lash it to my ass pack… and spring loaded cord stoppers to retain it. Secondary retention is by a caribiner up top.

I’m not liking it or trusting it, really…? Are any of you guys squaddies that are up to speed on molle load bearing vests and plate carriers? It seems to me those guys go for elastic shock cord for chores like this. I’ve also seen something called “friction lock cord”… any of you guys ever use any of that?

Inside the pouch I have a re-purposed plastic spice bottle to hold a bic lighter and some fire stater material… it’s not much room… but I don’t need much. What would you use for compact starter material?  I’ve been using birch bark… but it rakes up too much space! I need something that I can pack in that bottle beside the bic.

I wonder how that crap will all ride when I get on my cross country skis…?

We’re gonna find out soon! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

I am expecting a complete fiasco… I’ll let y’all know how it goes…
