It Is

Look at the objective on that scope above. That’s a high magnification scope in high mounted rings. Also note the elaborate shooting rest.

I briefly considered getting involved with precision shooting but we only have a couple ranges in Alberta that go out far enough and none of them are near me. Plus, a precision rifle is a money pit. Typically they start at around $8000.00 and go up. Add in the high end tripods, the spotting scopes, $ka-ching$, $ka-ching$, $ka-ching$…

I dunno if that pic is from the Charlie Kirk assassination, or just more crap in the shower of chit coming out from the usual sources. Note the sniper appears to be using some kind of rest too.

Supposedly, THIS is the assassin’s gun:

Allegedly chambered in 30-06.

Obviously one or both of these pics is bogus.

And - I’m still having problems with the hit itself. Pardon the crudity… but… uggghhh - we saw a neat, round exit wound. A .30-06 should have torn his throat right out. Things get “chunky” when metal like that hits meat.

But… I suppose we have to wait for more info… or the memory hole shoes its work on this sordid affair.

UPDATE:

…for what it’s worth…couple grains of salt recommended…

  1. That picture is so pixellated no details can be made. What looks like a shooting rest to you looks like the sling and the guy's lower leg and foot extended a little. A .30-06 Mauser can be had online for $1300 (and yesterday I found where one had sold at auction for $200 unless it didn't meet a reserve).

    1. Yup. It’s like a Rorschach test where they show you ink blots. One or both of these pics is almost certainly bogus.

  2. For some reason, the 1st image of a person on the roof has feelings of a LEO overwatch position, not an assassin. But I may be mistaken.

Waiting for the Left to Call for 'Sniper Rifles' to be outlawed.

    1. They already tried that here in Canada about 20 years ago….

  3. I shot a deer with a .308 and I can say things didn't get chunky. There was a small 0.30 inch hole going in and a slightly larger 0.50 inch hole coming out. Of course I had some match grade FMJ ammo rather than hunting rounds cause I was an idiot, but that's the result.

    1. Perhaps. But even so… you look at the Kennedy assassination where he gets hit - and he gets thrown violently just from the momentum transfer. Charlie just kinda slumped…. Of course I could be full of beans. I’m just speculating…
