Non-Colours

My first truck was a 1971 GM with a 350 Invader under the hood.
She was a gas gobbling whore…but
I loved her with all my heart and still miss her today.

Same colour as that - what is it?
Putrid Orange? Or Hung Over Whisky Shit Yellow?

  1. 1st trucks are usually true love and we miss them when they are gone. Mine was a '76 Dodge Adventurer. Power nothing, 318 c.i. engine (which parts could be found on the moon), bench seat, metal headliner. I loved from '83 - '98 until my 1st child was going to be born and reality was a single bench seat shared with Mom N Dad would be a poor fit. So, I regretfully sold after over 250,000 miles of good service.

That color above ? I'd call it Gulden Mustard. Handsome truck ! I bet it was easy to wrench on the engine, there was actually space when you opened up the hood. Fuse boxes were easy to reach and replacing spark plugs (even against the fire wall) was a rather easy task. I miss old trucks !

  2. In the 70's they had 3 colors - Harvest Gold, Avocado Green and Autumn Red.

That truck is in what was called harvest gold.

My parents house was decorated in the avocado green with the autumn red highlights.

  5. My first vehicle was a 67 long wheel base Chevy. I had a canoe rack that clamped across the cab and stuck down the back two holes at the tailgate. It was my dads canoe, still have it today! I miss those days. D

  6. I miss all my old trucks..
Funny how becoming a family man, changes one’s perspective.
I now drive a minivan but can’t complain as it holds everything I need for an outdoor adventure, and it’s all secured in the locked cabin.

  7. Number 7 or 9 was a new 72 Blazer with everything GM offered waited months to get it was built on a Friday afternoon by the parking lot attendants for kicks. Same yellow with a white top my first new vehicle. Everything fell off or was cross threaded. Could spend all night recounting the Blazer epic
