The internet and social media would have to be destroyed.
2 entire generations perceive their world only through
their devices - which means the cell phones would have to be tossed too.
All of which would mean incredible social turmoil and loss of productivity.
Nostalgia is great and all… but incredibly inefficient.
What a lovely, but futile vision...
ReplyDeleteA milkman with a truck? When I was a kid Whitings Milk was delivered by horses drawn wagons (Boston's north shore, mid-'40s).
ReplyDeleteWhen I was 10 or so the folks would send me to the neighborhood deli to pick up cold cuts, hard rolls etc. Owed by a husband & wife, they had no cash register & figured the bill up on the paper bag they stuffed with your order. They only had a cash box. Dolores would sometimes give me a cookie & some milk while Willie put the order together. The store was in front, they lived in the back. Good times, good people & never to be seen again.
