Happy Easter and Good Friday all!
Last Easter out at the li’l Chapel out in the country I just sat in my seat like a bump on a log when our speecher learned us all that jews are God’s people too and that everyone had a hand in killing Christ: Judas ratted Him out, the Romans violated their own law to execute him, and the apostles deserted Him in His last hours … so there!!!
I guess all the poor jews did was pay off Judas, lean on the Romans to kill Him (as they couldn’t do it themselves), with all that driven by their greed and perfidious “faith” that allows them to treat other people this way and defy their own god in the process.
I kinda think there are varying degrees of guilt but whadda I know? “Easter is NOT about jews Filthie!!! Get a bloody grip you retard!!!”
I get it. Forget I said anything. And yet…
I did a little fact checking on this meme as it came from Blab. I fact check everything these days. I can’t find a John 8:44 in my cellphone Bible. Typo? I’m using a common English version on my Bible app so that probably induces some error in my efforts here? I’m told I should be on the King James Version like my wife is… but whatever. In my chithouse study of this … first John chapter 2:9… “if we claim to be in the light and hate someone we are still in the dark.”
🤨?
Do the other verses in this meme check out?
Revelation 2:9 … “I know how much you suffer and how poor you are, but you are rich. I also know the cruel things being said about you by people claiming to be God’s people. But they are not really God’s people. They are a group that belongs to Satan…”
Revelation 3:9… “Now you will see what I do to people that belong to Satan’s group. They claim to be God’s people but they are liars. I will make them kneel at your feet, then they will know that I love you…”
Hmmppffffff!
I dunno. The Bible tends to say what it means even when it speaks in obvious metaphor. But it contradicts itself from time to time too. And more digging seems to indicate that my “common English” version of the Bible is less than perfect… and I may have to abandon it. Joogle is obviously trying to spin all this as symbolic and not referring to jews per se.
So what does all this mean to me today, out here in the outhouse? I can’t say for sure if the Bible is directly referencing jews or symbolically referring to some other group… but if I have to guess? I think they’re references to jews. I still have digging to do so who knows.
But from here… it looks to me like the jews are manipulating us the same way they did the Romans 2000 years ago. And - if we let them get away with it and are not careful… we’ll be doing their unholy dirty work for them too. I think this is all a matter of discernment and judgement too… and not antisemitism.
I love the little church out in the country, I love the people in it… and being naive and trusting is not a sin. But I’ll be picking my own friends and allies, thank you very much. And I WILL be fact checking this as far as I can! Everybody is strongly advised to stay on the up and square and keep yer hands where I can see ‘em.
This biblical study is not over! 😡
But - such nonsense is reserved for grumpy old men. You concentrate on your family and the kids, and keeping everyone close to your Maker this weekend.
Cheers!
Filthie
What does it mean to read a Bible verse in context? Reading the Bible in its context means looking at every verse or passage in relation to the verses, chapters, and broader narratives that surround it. It means knowing what other ideas, themes, or stories the author was thinking about when writing.
ReplyDeleteThe passage starts in verse 31, ends at verse 47.
"You" in verse 44 refers to the jews.
The CEV bible version is written at a fourth grade reading level.
The KJV bible uses archaic language, words you think you know had different meanings back then.
I use the ESV and NKJV, YMMV

Your second paragraph says it all, thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteWhile - technically - you are correct that being naive and trusting is not a sin, be it noted that elsewhere in the New Testament, early believers were admonished to be as gentle as doves, yet as wise as serpents; in other words, don’t be credulous saps, or your gullibility will become culpability in no time flat, and lead you into thralldom to deceitful falsehoods, and to those who maliciously lead one into errors, errors which have consequences, such as those under which we are suffering today. Watch, and remain vigilant, as Jesus asked of his disciples that night in the Garden of Gethsemane, but they failed Him. Let’s learn from this.

I am having porterhouse steaks, stuffed potatoes, asparagus and MGD beer for my pagan holiday festivities, too bad we don't have over 18 year old's cavorting around in skimpy outfits...
ReplyDeleteThats the spirit Cedric! Best to Phil.
DeleteGood and thoughtful words from a croc-bound fatman! Good words, indeed.

ReplyDeleteJn 8:44 in context: Jesus is speaking to the Jewish leaders in the Temple area after they challenged Him.
ReplyDelete42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. John 8:42-44

ReplyDeleteI'm not going to over examine it again. It's been documented to death that (((Those))) entities, worship a "god" that is a jealous, vengeful, psychotic "god", requiring the "worship" of slavishly following ridged rules, blood sacrifice and screwing everybody that's in the wrong tribe.
ReplyDeleteMy God tells me to love myself, my neighbor and my Lord and to follow his Word. I'm pretty sure that's a Jesus thing, but, as our esteemed and gracious host might say "but whadda I know?"
On Easter as a Christian, I don't worry about the Little Hats and what they do. That's for other times in the year.
ReplyDeleteNo, focus instead on what Jesus went through and his torment and suffering so that our sins would be forgiven.
I never forget that as he said at one word he could have had a legion of angels at his side striking down all of those hurting him yet he didn't and willfully went through that horror for us.
