I vapour locked for a second on seeing this.
Who would even think to ask such a preposterous question?
How would could I possibly even answer it?
And no sooner had I asked myself the question, than
the answer came farting and bubbling
up from my subconscious depths.
Perhaps that is where my soul is?
I fully expected this to be my anthem as an old man.
Living alone, reminiscing about past regrets and missed opportunities.
I did much better than I expected for myself.
I do have the regrets and missed opportunities as many men my age do. But I am too free in talking about them. It only makes the wind blow harder and colder. And the wind will only stop when you die. It is enough to be able to embrace it from time to time. You can literally do nothing else.

ReplyDeleteAC/DC. High Voltage.
ReplyDeleteThe music that I find defines me has to be anything Bob Seger, Wiley and the Poor Boys/CCR and In-A Gadda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly. At my age, 66 I am being pulled to the life of a gypsy again, hook up my 19'Jayco and head out to see what I didn't see the time I spent 9 years on the road. This living among people is tiresome and stressful. Hooking up and hitting the pavement is cathartic and refreshes the soul. My trailer? I like my bed and my toilet...
ReplyDeleteOpen Arms by Journey, my GF at the time let me touch her boobs to it.

ReplyDeleteFor me, it was Dark Side of the Moon as a HS sophomore in 73. Everything else pales in comparison.
ReplyDeleteDitto. I was a college sophomore then. Anything else by Pink Floyd is a solid "meh", but Dark Side was transformative.
DeleteYup. No contest. Every stoner's fave.
DeleteI know this cuz I wuz 1.

You're a young man! Great album but I was in my late 20's by then! Has to the The Doors album.
ReplyDeleteBob Seger is a talented song writer. A lot of his songs are self reflection, some good and some bad. Just like Life.
ReplyDeleteAs a motorcycle rider, "Roll Me Away" affects a lot of them. And maybe you too.
You have a great day.
Oddly enough, the most influential album on my childhood was the 2001: A Space Odyssey. I didn't listen to popular music much during my childhood.
ReplyDeleteDr Hook. Sloppy seconds
ReplyDeleteChicago’s first 8 albums. They really tanked after Terry Kath died. Some of their stuff is the most fun I had with a horn in my hands. ‘Cept maybe for that one time at band camp……..
ReplyDeleteAl Stewart Past Present and Future. Rick Wakeman Journey to the Center of the Earth.
