🤢

Up here in the frozen oaflands of Canada, colds and flus are a fact of life. Some are worse than others. None a this shite actually works; and if it does it’s just reverse psychosomatic variants of the placebo effect. But whatever… if it makes ya feel better … do it.

Last night I pooped the bed in the wee hours and was doom scrolling over at Blab - and some demonically possessed lunatic was spouting off about garlic stewed in honey…. GAH!!!!🤮

Apparently it can cure the flu, scurvy and rickets, improve yer sex life and prevent cancer. I don’t care if my teeth fall out, my skin turns yellow and my dink falls off - I ain’t eatin’ shit like that

I found that Contac C could make life a little bit easier. Buckley’s sometimes, maybe. Chase that with 4 fingers of Cardhu and hit the racks. There are no short cuts through the cold and flu or anything else for that matter.

  1. The only thing I've found that works is to take enough heavy cold medicine (sudafed, benadryl, etc.) that it causes you to sleep for 2 or 3 days straight. Then you feel like shit for another day or two, then you feel better. The medicine don't do nuthin except make you sleep until you get better on your own.

    1. Agreed. And there have been mixed studies on the efficacy of elderberry syrup to reduce the severity and duration of the flu. Some studies found it to reduce the duration by four days and being more effective than tamiflu. The studies were dependent on treating flu within a certain number of hours of onset of symptoms. I haven’t had the flu in well over twenty years so I can’t attest to the effectiveness of said treatment, and no I don’t get flu vaccines. But this is why I grow and freeze my own elderberries, just in case. I have a great recipe for elderberry syrup using fresh/frozen/dried elderberries if anyone is interested.

Do your own research. And more importantly, don’t touch your face and wash your damn hands!!!

  3. Exercise, raise your heart rate and burn the cold out of your system.

  4. A cold lasts 14 days with treatment, or two weeks without.

  5. Honey should be sourced locally to be more effective.
