Pass On The Ford...

When I first started driving my dream machine was my putrid orange GM farm truck with a 350 Invader under the hood. It smelled like Dad's cigarettes, farts, feet and BO. Not even the green christmas tree air freshener could dispel the funk. But I loved it. All metal interior, wooden deck back in the box... and Pop friggin SOLD it!!!!

😡😡😡

He gave me the other farm beater... a 75 Ford. I hated that fuggin thing with the heat of a thousand suns. It never ran right for me... but Pop could start it with a dirty look. That thing would burp and fart and chug when I started it... and it'd purr like a kitten for Dad.

I used to drive Fords in the oil patch and for my last sales job and they'd cleaned up their act on the assembly lines. The machines ran much better, and they were your best bet if you had some terrain or snow to push... they just needed more maintenance.

I drove Dodges and they were alright - I liked them better than fords. Nowadays I am a Toyota guy. The Dawgmobile is a Toyota and the wife is driving a RAV.  But I like the Nippers, I like Hondas too. Wish they made a decent truck though.

  2. Ford, 1973-79. Best chassis, suspension, body EVARRR!
Fords ruled off road racing from the late '60's till at least the 90's. In the Vintage class (non big money sponsorship) the '73-'79 still dominate. Best engines can be guilt for any brand.
I see more vintage Fords in radical rust belt Tennessee than Chevy and Dodge Combined. For newer trucks they seem about even. I have no loyalty to modern Ford, Chevies or Dodges, BUT, any Dodge with a Cummins diesel is a cut above, despite their shit front ends and auto trans.
I hereby declare that I am NOT biased, really, pinky swear, n sheeeit.

    1. We had a work one in 2009 and it had the most uncomfortable seats and the roof was low enough you had to hunch down in them. We used to joke it was for short people, it was so hated by the field guys management eventually assigned it to the one women because she was short

  4. Oh yeah. I have a '86 Toyota, 1 ton, pick up. Most reliable vehicle EVAR! Yes, it really is a 1 ton. It has the 22re, 2400cc motor. I think it's rated new at a mighty, thundering, 105ish horse power. It's not new. it's 270,000 miles old. A true down hill racer.
