Everyone’s An Expert

I’m looking at this … and all that equipment just looks wrong to me. Caveat: I’m not a door kicking, house cleaning squaddie. I don’t jump out of helicopters with guns, and all my soft targets ran around on four legs, not two. All were shot in daytime conditions, not at night.

With my expert credentials taken into account… these things look like the doing of a flaming mil-spec monkey gear queer! To me, cans on guns mean CQB wet work. Weapon lights mean night ops. Maybe I am full a beans but those guns look unwieldy and cluttered to me. There’s way too much junk hanging off them.

  1. The axe looks ok. The rest of it? Jeez, the purpose of a shotgun is to not need sights - just point the damn thing and pull the trigger. But that can be removed easily. I don't even know where to start on the other two.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a can for my 10/22 so I can go plinking without ear protection. Thing is, the can is more expensive than the rifle, and ear plugs are cheap. Maybe some day.

  2. I'll keep the Granfors Bruk axe, if you don't mind, please.

  3. Speaking from a position of no experience whatsoever (never handled a firearm in my life, so I wouldn't know Richard Head from Peter Puller on this subject), the pistol and rifle are look the most suspect to my eye. The scattergun seems mostly on the up-and-up, but I can't fathom what that optic is other than "one that doesn't need to be on a shotty".
That chopper looks to have been through its paces, though. You still have Injuns up there in the Great Northern Wastes, so it might even be the real deal...

  4. the Hi power is okay. drop the light and optic. don't need or want them. bare bones has worked for me for years now. the rifle needs a can as with the barrel that short will have a fire ball that is massive ! little shotgun is okay for in house use I guess. again, lots of blast with that short a barrel. and it been 50 years since I jumped out of a helicopter with the 101st. Airborne.
never carried a axe though, couple of knives though. one Swiss army Champ that was handy as hell and a Gerber dagger for close "work" times change I guess.

  5. light comes in handy if you hear that bump in the night...with these 1000 lumen gun lights you can blind them and yourself before you pull the trigger...

    1. one thing, I KNOW my house . and I found that lights work as a two way weapon. kind of like tracers do as well.
outside of the house, different story as I have a light on both shotgun and rifle. I see rather well in the dark compared to most people i met or know. so the light is only to spot the target and not to "sweep" with it.
but, hey. back in my day we only had the damn starlight scope and it was HUGE compared to today. and we used to paint a white strip on the front sight base/post on the M-16. anyway, I use what I am used to using.
BTW, a can is a huge plus as it stops the fireball flash
that blinds you in the dark. we where taught to close one eye when shooting in the dark to keep some night vision.

I do like me some red dots, since I got a can I don’t shoot anything bigger than my 22 lr without a can,it’s a game changer. I don’t like em on a pistol though, I like lights on my bump in the night gun.

  7. Without a light, you can't even clear your own house. If the light is in your other hand, you better have enough hours of drill and practice.
Hi Power is set up for low/no light work, looks great to me.
The AR in 5.56 is a fire and noise machine (yeah, still loud with the suppressor), with the ballistics of a 22 magnum. That AR in 300 Blackout is very effective and quiet. Swap to supersonic ammo and its good, out passed 250 yards.
An M37 Ithaca is always a winner. Looks like a first gen red dot, that one eye looked at a red dot with an opaque background and yer other eye looked at the target. It works with proper stereo vision, not at all if you have a lazy (off center) eye.
Axe has likely not on it's first handle.

  8. Shotgun looks like a light not a scope, that would speed up getting you on target.

The rifle is a lit more crap than i like on my long guns.
The silenced pistol is going to be slow to draw.
