The Great American Piss Burner

There’s a little clipper I watch on OyToob who lives in Japan. All he does is camp out of the back of one of these things. I don’t think it goes much over 50 MPH… But he doesn’t care. He putt-putt-putts across the Japanese islands, soaking in the hot springs and doing Japanese gourmet cooking in his tiny palace on wheels.

Apparently Blumpf wants Americans to build these and sell them in North America. They would make fine campers for the lone stubfart for sure. They’d be great for in-town delivery work… and apparently they’re cheap to buy.

Quite frankly… I dunno what to think of them? I’ve got the Dawgmobile so I dunno if there’s a fit for one of these in my life… yet…? The experts talk about them but they just leave me more conflicted.

Would you buy one?

  1. Small, guttless, unsafe and fairly useless. get a 4WD real truck and a camper instead. It's worth paying the extra scratch. Suzuki Samurais are just as lame. Tippy, too small and uncomfortable as F.

  2. Ran a few of these as line trucks for one of the airlines I worked for. Basic as can be, hauls enough to be useful, but a serious PITA to fix when they break. I wouldn't own one...

  3. The biggest issue I would have is that there are definitely not rated for highway driving. Pretty much anywhere I need to go in Texas requires a stretch of highway driving at 70 mph or higher (sometimes much higher, cause damn!). Something that can top out at 50 is very limited around here. I could definitely see it as a ranch vehicle, or in-town run-about, but that's about it.

Around here all the ritzy neighborhoods have electric golf carts and kids riding around all day long. Some places even have extra wide sidewalks to keep these golf carts off the streets. This would be better than a golf cart fur sure, but still.

Again, Toyota Hilux, bare bones, with a Ma Deuce mounted in the bed on a turret.

    1. What Don said. Hilux or really any bench seat pickup without all the EPA and computer crap on it.

    2. Hell, an early 90's Ford Ranger with a 4-banger and 5-speed manual, single cab, long bed would be a huge hit. Easily one of the best trucks I've ever owned.

    3. Any year long bed, Hilux, between '75 and '95, with a 22re motor and 5 speed. Like my '86. Extra cab, A/C, optional.

    4. Ive got the 85 SR5 Solid front axel and 22RE 5spd 4x4 Ext Cab and will never sell it Mike. Its a trusty mule of a beast. Also have an older 4WD Fleet pop up camper and have had some epic times. Eddie

  4. For me, with the small wheels shown, this would high center on many stretches of ranch roads, especially when flooded. But its light weight would probably be easy to push or winch out when required.

Then again, when I was a kid, four of us (two adults - two teens) would pile into Dads '76 VW Rabbit and go deer hunting, traveling those same ranch roads. You would hear rocks rolling under the floor boards, but we weren't concerned - little mother NEVER got stuck. Small little guy but when rear was emptied, a person could sleep diagonally if they wanted to car camp. Little guy would tuck into brush pocket easily, hidden from view.

Remember - Park Rangers are out to issue tickets so staying hidden is good !

  5. Yep… I’ve got my little Toyota truck and see no sense in going to a tiny truck… and yup… I don’t think these things are built for our faster highways here

  6. I do wish we could get late '70s/early '80s Rabbit diesels again.
