Hey y’all.
Sorry for the truancy you guys. Thanks for everyone that took the time to offer up encouragement and even rude jokes to keep my spirits up. I’d have responded but I’ve been in and out of it for the last week. When I came down with it my lungs filled up with fluid and I couldn’t breathe. I pussed out and went down to Emergency and asked them if they could look at me. I figured all I needed was a puffer/inhaler or some decent prescription cough medicine - but they gave the works. I got X-rayed and blood tested at 4:30 in the morning, and was starting to breathe normally by 5:00. I fell asleep because starving for air is actually exhausting work. While I snored they put in an IV and shot me full of magnesium. I’da thunk I’d be all full of heavy metal from all the metal shavings and crud down in the Reclusium but I wasn’t in any shape to argue. The pièce de résistance was a simple warm wool blanket. They threw one on me that must a come right out of the drier. I tried to refuse it because I didn’t want to be a pain but they insisted. I didn’t realize that I was actually very cold and it was like the glory of God settling on my shoulders when they threw it on me. I was hooked up to a scoreboard and by the time we left the wife said my magnesium and O2 levels were back in the green. I felt bad because they spent a lot of time on me - all I needed was my airways opened up. But I guess they gotta give ya the full meal deal. I am forced to retract some things I’ve said about the medical profession.
I’ve had pneumonia before … but never like this. The flu is nasty but combined with the pneumonia - it rocks your world a bit. I guess it’s the weekend and the boys are out hunting without me. It’s just as well, I’m still light headed and tired.
I haven’t eaten anything for a couple days so maybe I’ll go get something to eat and start looking for rotten jokes. Thanks again for dropping by.
Cheers!
Filthie

Glad to hear you're better, Glen. Fellas your age can fade fast with pneumonia. Get up, get some eggs and Canadian bacon, give the niglet some lovin' then get back to the business of entertainment of the misfits.
ReplyDeleteGo heavy on the beans and pickled eggs to get you system back to normal.

Rubbish, you didn't make bail and were looking at forty years, until the petition from the other inmates plus the guards plus a hefty bribe got you sprung. USAAMRID and VEKTOR now have you under surveillance and sample collection, not even they imagined such a virulent pathogen. Glad you're back.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better. Pneumonia sucks for sure. Some greasy sausage and eggs with hot sauce will have back to your filthy self in no time
ReplyDeleteMag levels are low across the board in the human these days and needs supplementation. A few scoops before bed of this stuff... https://naturalcalm.ca/product/natural-calm-magnesium-citrate-powder-raspberry-lemon-flavour/ and you should be able to maintain those levels! Great to have you up and around again! Don't forget to up all the other important elements as well.. Zinc, potassium etc.

bacon, smoked and thick. thank you for posting.
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back among the breathing. IDC has a great idea, you could even add toast, with no penalty points.
ReplyDeleteKeep drinking fluids. They mean water, but I'm pretty sure, ANY clear fluids over 90 proof, will do.
So glad you're getting up and about Glen. Dealing with emphysema, I truly sympathize with the pneumonia ... not breathing is truly a bitch with no forgiveness. Take care of yourself for a while and get your strength back before you jump back into the business of being yourself, pneumonia is rough on the body.
ReplyDeleteThe hospitals have a heated cabinet were they store the blankets. That way they are warm when needed.

Filthie, you take care of yourself. You are my favorite Canuck and I won't stand for anything bad happening to you.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're better! I knew you were sick but not that sick- you did well to get yourself to the ER! Wishes and prayers for you.
