A point of order that needs to be clarified on this blog is my stance on Glock pistols. The unvarnished truth of it is that anyone whose seen what these reasonably priced guns can do - in the hands of someone who knows how to use them - understands the value, practicality and security these lower priced guns offer. Notice I used the term “inexpensive” and not cheap. There is a huge difference between the terms. Only a hare lipped retard stubfart Fudd could deny their practically and suitability for the security minded free citizen. Now that I have presented my credentials, perhaps it puts my scholarly opinions in perspective…?
HAR HAR HAR 😂👍
My problem with the Glock right now is that if I shot one…I’d probably like it! And want one! It wouldn’t go over with the other crusty old boomerfags and fossils at the rod n’ gun club that I run with! HAR HAR HAR! The problem is… it’s probably too late! I’ve already lost my heart and fallen madly in love with the Ruger American ranch rifle. It’s a dirt cheap inexpensive rifle that shoots like a house on fire and is drop dead reliable. In 223 it is an absolute hoot to shoot. If that isn’t enough, the little carbine is women and kid friendly. I will bet Glock pistols are much the same. I don’t think it matters which generation or what kind of farkles the individual Glock has… I’ll bet they’re all good IF you’re willing to put in the time to be proficient with them. Just like any gun really. May God, St. Cooper and St. Browning forgive me my heresy!
This renaissance in the gun world - of inexpensive, good guns proliferating on the market - is mirrored in the knife world. I’ve got a blade fetish and I adore the big fighters and elegant folders crafted by inspired artisans in small batches with exclusive price tags. Buuuuuuuuut…
That’s a Mora knife - with a moulded plastic sheath. Around $30~$40 bucks here in Soviet Canukistan. Couple years ago I took it out and beat the hell out of it on camping trips and then threw it back into my plunder without resharpening it. I rediscovered it gathering dust down in the Reclusium so I brought it upstairs and touched him up. He just glided through my breakfast tomaters with easy elegance and grace. It’s like those beshitted Glocks and Ruger Tupperware rifles… the damned things are impossible not to love!
😡
Compounding the hell of it: more expensive knives are getting into ever more exotic and harder steels. Sure… those beauties and heart throbs will hold their edges… but when they inevitably and eventually lose them… they can be a total PITA to strop up again! My old Leatherman uses CPM S30V steel… and that chit will not sharpen off a regular whetstone… unless ya got 100 years to waste with it! Or fuggin D2 tool steel… ughhhhh!!! Trying to sharpen these bastid steels forged in hell …. It gives me PTSD and road rage just thinking about it!!!
Fortunately I learned a hack - which, I suppose, shoulda been obvious: I broke out some 350 grit sand paper to those asshole blades…and that fixed them up just fine! Once ya get the nicks out and the angle re-established, you can start the hone and polish process by incrementally going up to the finer grits…but it IS a process.
What a strange market that’s emerging, eh? Good knives and guns are getting ever more inexpensive. Hopefully optics will follow suit soon.

I really enjoy shooting my Glock 19. Particularly the short trigger reset. Happy Thanksgiving from west Texas!
