The Leaves Have Started To Fly

4:00 in God’s country…

The Niglet and I are camped down a lonely country road, in a copse of small trees. It’s warm now but it’s going to get chilly tonight… I might turn on the furnace. The days are getting shorter. There’s nobody around for a mile or two. We saw a lone coyote on the way out but the deer aren’t really moving yet. There is only the wind and sky moving for now. There’s nobody around. The pup is snuggled up and snoring and I don’t think I’m gonna make it. Soon we’ll both be snoring and farting our way through a lazy afternoon siesta. Afterward we’ll go for a walk in the fields. There will be no leashes or collars or pooh bags. This weekend we are in God’s country.

I’ve got my trusty 20 bore side by each…so I’ll be ready to make a meal out of any unwary grouse. I’ll probably end up shooting Flapz by accident…

Have yaselves a great weekend. For me… a snooze beckons.

Cheers!

Filthie…

  2. Still too close to civilization, I see a power pole with a transformer. If ya gonna boondock, at least get far enough away from infrastructure of any kind. Now, we if can get you into a proper travel trailer than that mobile tee-pee...

    1. I figure one of those hard-sided pop ups would serve the young and handsome Mr. Glen Filthie well.

    2. Agree but damn civilization keeps on intruding. Nights used to be amazing at the ranch with star lit skies. Then about 15 years ago, damn wind generator poles were erected and blinking red lights along the horizon spoils the view. I hate that shit !!

    3. They've ruined previously beautiful views around here. Especially below the edge of the caprock.

  4. Enjoy the down time. We all need time to step back and look around the world around us. Time spent in the woods is never wasted.
