Monday Ramble

Welp… the fall blahs are upon us. The wind howls and it’s -7C with the wind chill. I pooped the bed and I’m up early. I got a lot to do!

Winter truck camping season is coming fast and I gotta drag out all my gear and snuggies for an upcoming camping trip. I gotta ton of reloading to do, some leatherwork projects, plus my regular chores … plus I’m getting the knife bug again.

I wanna try a blade with a stacked leather handle. Properly done… they’re beautiful to look at. I was watching this guy on OyTube that buys old rusty beaters and slowly refurbs them … but ya know…? I can’t find SFA for a rusty old beater! EBay is FULL of guys wanting top dollar for old junk and they can damned we’ll keep it as far as I’m concerned.

🤬

Might be just cheaper to buy a blank and go that way…and to hell with the old jews and their junk. So… I’m gonna do Dawn Patrol with the pup, then some chores, then I’m down in the Reclusium to reload another batch of 223 for the Tupperware bolt gun. After that… it’s gear dump time.

And speaking of dumps… a few turds are buried under the fold. Hope y’all have a great Monday!

  1. Pity that there aren't any Bass Ale bottle caps in the collection of spoons.

    1. Pair one of those Bass Ales with a Guinness Stout, mix 1/2 and half, and enjoy a couple of Black and Tans. Add two fishing lures to your collection, too.

  2. eBay is a mess, better to go find an old flea market or hit up some garage sales if you looking for old cheap knives. Even pawn shops might be worth a look, although odds are they'll only have chinesium junk. My mom goes to tons of estate auctions and comes home with weird stuff, I've been meaning to start going to those myself, just haven't had the time.

  4. Nothing says “recreational use only” more than a fatty with a Throat GOAT T-shirt. They are soooooooo good because LOTSA practice & have to be EASY to get any attention at all. REALLY hot chicks tend to be starfish in the sack, though there are exceptions.

  5. We built a nice heavy kukri using a Cold Steel LTS blank and going from there. Just needed sharpening and a handle made of wood was cobbled out. Not a showpiece - a real worker bee though.

If you have the talent - why not build it if that is your inclination ?

  6. I always wanted a stacked leather handled hatchet like my dad had. I ended up finding one at "a home improvement store;" an Estwing E24A. The thing is too beautiful to use!
