As everyone who knows me knows… I am the ultimate Obsolete Man - and perversely proud of it! In the world of reloading everyone is using ultrasonics now, or the wet tumblers with the stainless steel tumbling media. I am still on the old school vibrating tumblers that use crushed walnut shells and corn cob media. I’m not gonna change either at this point. It works…but for my serious ammo for outhouse tournaMINTS and hunting… I like my ammo to look sparkly new as if it just came from the factory. I want it to gleam like the gold that probably isn’t in Fort Knox, HAR HAR HAR!!!
😂👍
Nevr Dull is a batting material impregnated with some kind of polishing compound that takes all the oxides and tarnish off brass. Another trick is to throw a dram of Brasso into the tumbler…but Nevr Dull works much better and even gets that scorched on carbon off the case necks.
A lot of people will be put off by the drudgery of it… but I do it out on the shady veranda with a cigar, a jug of coffee and a good podcast to listen to while I work. But, as in all things - you do you. It keeps me busy and out of jail… for now…
😂👍
Tarnished brass shoots just as good as polished brass. Just brush the dirt and mud off and you're good to go.
ReplyDeleteI still have my walnut tumbler from the 80's, just added new media and some generic brasso and my 38 specials came out - errr - ok. Clean enough.
Please put some socks on.
