There’s a few teachers out at the li’l chapel out in the country. They were talking about the job over coffee and apparently they still separate the girls and boys for vocational courses. The story is that because the future is female, the girls get to cover lots of stuff that was previously given to the boys.

Apparently the girls were offered an introductory class on robotics, and some of the boys wanted to take it… and were told to shove off. It was girls only, end of story.

I’ve heard any number of old farts bitching about how young men have no skills these days. My response is - and has always been - “Exactly whose fault is that, you stupid old sonofabitch?” The reality of today’s world is that it’s not up to the public school teachers to educate your kids. At best, they’re baby sitters. Most of those slobs can’t even do that! The best person to train your kid is YOU. And if you sluff that off as well…where does that leave the kids?

  1. One of the biggest problems with the young men not knowing anything is the lack of a father figure in their life when they were growing up and it applies to all races, not just 2Gs. I have a SIL that knows absolutely nothing about everything. He is constantly watching videos on how to do things. The problem with that is that many of those videos are posted by other young men who don't know anything either, so the SIL ends up screwing something up worse rather than fixing it. Apparently he is too scared, embarassed, or prideful to come ask me how to do something.

  2. Pretty much the truth, although there are a few exceptions.

  3. The problem is they aren't OUR kids. THe failure happened long ago, before we knew them.

I will help any young man (or lass) that needs instruction, but most don't want to learn.

  4. I taught both my boys basic auto maintenance as well as other around the household type skills. The oldest learned out of necessity once I told him I was no longer fixing his mistakes. The youngest took to it like a duck to water, he enjoyed working on stuff. Now that they're both grown, the youngest does nothing but computers all day and the oldest has restored/rebuilt a golf cart, remodeled his bathroom, installed new drywall, etc. and so forth. But yeah, fuck school, they learned all that stuff at home.
