Pioneer

I knew it the second I saw it. Big Bro had a 69 Firebird set up just like that.

For some reason I seem to remember that costing several hundred dollars

in 1970s money…

  1. Good old days, Filthie. Looks like a late 60s Chevelle console. I had one of those in my 1971 Nova SS, had the same tape in it too. Got it second hand as they were pricey at the time.

  2. Had that same Boston 8 track and Barefoot pedal in my 66 Mustang GT fast back. Great memories. Eddie

  3. Had this exact same 8-track, but without the radio tuner.

Added a (big, for the time) 40-watt amplifier and some Jensen 6x9 Triax speakers. Shook the car. I still remember laying in the trunk and cutting the speaker holes in the (metal) rear deck with a jigsaw.

I paid $225 for my '64 Chevy II Nova in 1977, and about $400 for the stereo. Had my priorities in order.

    Good times.

  4. I guess they still command top prices - if you can find them in decent used condition…
