Well they’ve been distilling one of the better Canadian whiskies in Gimli for what, now? 75 - 80 years? And … another Canadian business flees southward, looking for a serious gov’t that is serious about business. Before them I think we lost Seagrams which had been distilling in Canada for something like 125 years…? Thanks a lot, Carney! It’s the same old same old… liberal parasites come to power in Canada and the economy takes a chit. And more businesses go south.
Just as the Scots are known for their exquisite single malts - Canada is…errrr…WAS… the master of the blended whiskies. And all snobbery aside… it’s not uncommon for a blended whisky to beat the stuffing out of a given single malt. I’ll drink Crown Royal if it’s in the jerry can… but if I had my druthers I lean toward Gibson’s Finest. There’s others… but you do you. Today would be a great day to have a tipple before supper.

There was a time, many many years ago, when I didn't know about blended whiskeys, single malts, bourbon vs. scotch, sour mash, etc. Jack Daniel's was first choice cause Merica, dammit, and Crown Royal was the fancy shit we couldn't afford. Happy times those were.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not too proud to stick my nose up at a blended whiskey. The consistency is much better bottle to bottle and you pretty much know what you're getting, every time.
Gibson’s Finest, since 1837. Reasonably priced too. I'm going to have to make a stop at the liquor store this afternoon.
