Because of my decades of tree service, I have never. not been around those, on all all of my trucks. Had 4 or 5 at my peak truck wealth. I've got shins of iron! Or maybe dead nerves.
It only took four or five whacks but I finally learned, long ago, to look down when walking around the back of my own truck. Thing is, older trucks sat lower and it was indeed a shin killer. Newer trucks sit higher for some god-awful reason and my hitch hits right at the knee level. That'll put your ass on the ground for good, hitting that at speed.
In Oregon and in South Dakota, those are illegal to keep in the receiver if you do not have a trailer attached, but cops won't ticket you unless they are looking for a reason to pull you over to hassle you.

ReplyDeleteLooks like there's an entire parking lot chalk full of idiots. Anyone want to take a stab at how often trailer hitches get stolen?
