When I was a kid and the new IPSC games were starting the guys would buy milsurp Inglis Hipowers and pimp them out. They just turned me right off - I dunno why. They feel okay in the hands, the guys that owned them shot them well, I suppose. Just not my cup of tea I guess.
I had one back in the day. Had the same feeling. Just didn't like it for some reason. I sold it off and got a Smith 5906. That one I loved. I'm not into 9mm any more.
ReplyDeleteTrained with them whilst in the milish during the 80s....one of the best HGs in the world and sexy as all get out! Bought an salt and peppa one, Saran Wrapped it to my lower back, and smuggled it after an training ex with the Rangers in Ft. Lewis. No regerts!
ReplyDeleteChutes Magoo
I do like the knife.
ReplyDeleteI can respect that. The pictured Hi-Power and CZ-75 both fit my hands so I am fans of those.
ReplyDeleteYou learn to appreciate the Hi-Power when you’re in a gunfight. I bought mine in 1969 and still carry it concealed. Beautiful John Browning work of art.
ReplyDeleteI have owned 3 in my life so far. first one was a FN made and very accurate but tended to bite my hand at times. lost it in the divorce. second one was a WW2 Canada made one. same problems, it bit my hand at times. the last one I have now is made by Springfield and doesn't have the hand biting problem.
ReplyDeleteaccurate as ever, if I do my part that is. feeds every sort of ammo I tried in it so far and ZERO jams or whatever with it.
trigger is a LOT better than the first two as well.
safety is easy to use, again. better than the first two.
and I carry it everyday now, it a better shooter than my Sig 226
is. more accurate by far. as a old 1911 guy, it just makes sense to carry it now instead of my 1911 Gov't model.
its plus P rated as well. so shooting hot rounds thru it are not a problem so far anyway. and it has the old world gun look and feel to it. don't really care for plastic myself. just wish they finish them better, more like the old browning where done.
I mean it not bad, but it could be a lot better if they did.
say what you will, but I am keeping mine. found it after looking for almost 2 years by chance when shopping for some 22 on sale. it was the only one in the store too. just got in the night before. I am happy with it.
At this point, I wouldn't say no to a Hi-Power if I had to choose between it and some of the plastic garbage they're putting out today.
ReplyDeleteDid you read about how Sig might be about half a cunt hair from losing the contract with the US Air Force, if not the entire US dot.mil altogether, after what happened with that airman yesterday?
I've had a Sig 226 and a 220. Great guns, accurate. Early 226's had a problem with the slide rail cracking in front of the mag well on high mileage pistols.
Delete@TM: I agree - Sigs are good firearms. In fact, of the myriad of tactical tupperware on the market, I probably prefer the Sig over all the others (although a GLOCK does come in close second). But...at this point, I think I'd prefer a steel framed pistol if given the option. After all, we never had the sorts of problems with tried and true firearms like the 1911 M92, or the Hi-Power that we're seeing with modern plastic firearms.
DeleteDown here in my part of the UsA, one in that condition averages around $1,800 +
ReplyDeleteEven tho I love 1911, that thing is a beaut.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big 1911 fan (bought my most recent one this year). Also a big fan of the plastic fantastics (HEY, I'm from commiefornia), but my 1st love was the Browning Hi Power. Got my 1st one in '74.
