This morn we were on Long Range duty and well into the younger neighborhoods about two miles out. I was clad in my sporty boonie hat, tee shirt, shorts n sandals. We came upon some youngsters waiting for the school bus. The pleasant young fella turns to me and says, “Hey - buddy! How’s this for a Griller Dad outfit?”
I stopped and looked him over critically: sandals, socks, shorts, tee shirt and a ball hat. “Excellent!” I said, and gave him the thumbs up.
π
He turned to give his sister a cheeky grin and the lass did the face/palm thing. Of course I could have recommended Crocs and maybe a Tilley hat… but he wasn’t old enough to carry that look off like a handsome distinguished mature gentleman like Yours Truly.
π
I keep telling myself that when our daughter flopped and fizzled we should have just written her off and started again! We’d have a son this time… and I’d raise him in my own perfect image! π
Sadly it’s too late for that - but I can take pride in still being a positive role model for today’s troubled young men.
that's entertainment is it?
ReplyDeleteThat’s a moldy oldie, A. I imagine the newer stuff is even bleaker and darker.
ReplyDeleteWOW, new to me, Quite the visuals.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's a little dark.
Moldy oldie, looks like it came out in 1999. 26 years ago, I was middle aged, 48. A whole nuther generation raised in a dysfunctional, dystopian matrix. It's disquieting how long it's been going down. It was bad enough for this group to really belt it out 26 years ago!
The good ol’ days are long, long gone Mike. I don’t even know how music works anymore or what the kids listen to? How do you even buy music now? My only exposure to music is through the AM/FM radio in my truck…
DeleteI look at the few happy, smart kids and I shudder to think what the future holds for them…
