Back in the 70's my Dad and all his friends had Jap bikes - all the big cool ones from back in the day - KZ900, GS750, CB750, the big inline 4's. My uncle was a scrawny little guy, even as a 14 year old kid I towered over him. He had an old shovel head and could barely kick it over. He'd do like she did, stand on the kickstarter, jump up and then come down with all his weight (maybe 120 lbs if that) and still barely turn it over. Everyone else hit the little starter button and those Jap bikes started right up, that stupid Harley would just cough, maybe chug once, and still not run. There's a reason my garage has all Hondas in it.
Back in the day when one of my friends would hear a loud Harley on a warm day, he'd say "Ahh...the bees are out! It's warm enough for them to get their bikes started!" He had Hondas, I preferred Yamaha at the time. It could be 40 degrees, I'd hit the choke, two twists of the throttle, push the starter and it would light off having barely cranked.
shovel head?
