There’s a lot of fuzzy thinking here. Contrary to Heather, I don’t think more papered and credentialed morons will save us. Far more concerning to me is our abandonment of morals and ethics and the growing rejection of legitimate intellectualism.
In any society there are a small number of critical thinkers that also have the gifts of creativity, imagination and intuition and can synthesize and simplify complex data sets into accurate theory. In today’s society they are getting drowned out by the noise created by the poseurs, grifters and other chattering skulls - like Heather here, or guys like Yours Truly. The influencers, the content creators… hork, spit!
Historically… when cultures reject their intellectuals en mass… really BAD things happen.
I wonder if you can even get a degree in those disciplines that actually honors Western civilization instead of promoting multicultural rot?
ReplyDeleteI dunno, A?
DeleteThe pozz and wokeness in our universities went way past 10 on the Rectum Scale long ago. Our philosophers, historians and English majors were going for a shit before I was born…
1.) I wonder where she's been hanging out 'all day' where she'd actually see the discourse she speaks of. Certainly not outside her own echo chamber...; 2.) When she says 'historians, philosophers, and English majors', she really means propagandists who eagerly propagate her revisionist approved narratives.
ReplyDeleteJust make sure you take that sky high dangerous lift off your truck. And while you’re at it get rid of your vehicles that are older the the year 2000. For ze safety of all canookz dontcha no. Your betters have spoked.

Sounds like you’ve been listening to that no-good Cederq and his AI pranksters…😂👍
DeleteThese ones aren't so bright.
ReplyDeleteThe term "useless degree" or worthless, wasn't that they were useless to society (though some are). It was that they were useless to the person. Getting into 200K debt to get a degree where you will never get a decent job or otherwise hope to repay your debt is useless. It came about after Aaron Clarey's book "Worthless", which that was the thesis.
I wonder if he’s still around and what he does? That mindset was prevelant 30 years ago in these parts.
DeleteHe's still on his yootoob channel. I watch it sometimes. He appears to make good coin answering dumb questions people pay him to answer. Back in the day, one of these doofuses - a 56 year old boomer (at the time) asked how he can save for retirement. His rant was epic. Best lines ever; "You won't be retiring". "Math is going to show up and kick your ass" After that, he wrote 'Poor Richards Retirement". It's a plan for a low budget retirement. It's where I'm headed after the Ex wiped out 1/2 my dough.
DeleteWhat does ze mean by "decline"? Are there really fewer of them now? Or does she mean their credibility? Ayway, we've seen the results.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think she knows what she thinks…
DeleteThis is one of the people that have been educated enough to forget the definition of a woman. Because of this she is going to have to define the word need. In my 55 years i have needed doctors, electricians, plumbers and many other real life services. I have yet to need a historian , a philosopher and or an English major.

I had a *great* High School education back in the 1970s, learning about (for example) Basil the Bulgar Slayer. I know a *ton* more about Basil because I've kept reading (and listening to podcasts) on my own. If I sniff someone trying to indoctrinate me, I close the book or turn off the podcast.
Somehow, I don't expect that this is what Heather means by "education" and I expect that the ability of pupils to turn the Signal off is absolutely NOT what she means by "needs historians".
But you know how nasty and suspicious I am ...
Intelligent people don't need degrees.
