Every known case of "spontaneous human combustion" led to a lit cigarette. Cigarette lights cloth on fire, the cloth acts as a wick for melting skin and fat.
Most of the scene photos I was trained on involved a recliner, a cigarette, and a bottle of something on a side table.
Spontaneous human combustion (SHC) which is a rare phenomenon generally discredited by scientists, although the remains and evidence is a bit difficult to explain. My own theory, backed up by bourbon and branch water, is that SHC is caused by a biochemical process that has yet to be discovered.
