I always look forward to Rob’s participation in this event every year.
Unlike most of us, he’s a shooter AND serious curator. He’s one of the few guys
that ever got a 45/.577 Martini Henry rifle to actually shoot well.
In this case… the Ross rifle. Carefully not being said is
that the Ross rifle was an execrable piece of shit!
There is no nice way to say it.
And serious collectors will pay through the nose for pristine specimens.
I suspect most were thrown in the garbage as soon as Enfield replacements
were available.
To pick that rifle, with an early model gas mask? Rob is either
a masochist… or a dedicated stubfart gun club duffer!
Maybe YOU should give the CFC shoot a try?
Close enough to our now discontinued Annual Martin Luther King Birthday Week End 47.70 Shoot. We aged out, then there was nothing left in southern Commiefornia to hold me, so it was off to the Volunteer State, Tennessee. But now, buying fire sticks at yard sales, garage sales, flea markets and swap meets, brings meaning back into my life.
