I went to a machine gun shoot in Aridzona back in '95. There was an old gentleman there that had a Victorian age (beautiful, painted black with brass furniture and accents), water cooled, Maxim on a British WWl anti aircraft mount. He let everybody get a few shots off at the styrofoam RC drone targets that were commercially available. If you wanted to shoot a lot, he charged you 25 cents a round. He dipped his ammo in bees wax, it made awesome vapor trail, tracers! At the end of WWll, he transferred from the Army, directly to Aberdeen Weapons Proving grounds. They procured scores of each type of machine guns from everywhere. Then they would strip and blueprint, spec them out, keep the top 2 or 3 and get rid of the rest. Since he was part of the project and his boss liked him, He was able to get the next best gun for scrap price. In '95, he was retired to Aridzona and had 3 buildings dedicated to era themed, museum like set ups of his hundreds (maybe thousands) of machine guns. The US used to be a much better country. Entropy, or villains, or something.
2VP is stationed at CFB Shilo, not far from Winnipeg.
