I dunno about the USA but up here in Canada if you want to own your own home, you can only do it if the wife is out there and working hard and earning too. Even then, daycare for the kids is so expensive that they’re often working to pay someone else to raise their kids. At least that was what it was like for me and my circle, although I did know a few where mummy and daddy were millionaires or had a family business - and those youngsters did alright and had good choices to make. Things have gotten steadily WORSE since we were kids.
My wife and what I want from her has changed over the years. She’s a religious trad now, would have been the homesteader in her younger days. She could have been all four types but those two are where she is most comfortable and excels.
I'm going with "All of the above," Glen. If you're take the ultimate gonna gamble, SHOOT FOR THE MOON!
ReplyDeleteJust make sure they live in different areas and never meet.
DeleteIf I convert to the Latter Day Saints can't I have all four?
ReplyDeleteRoger that, Pete! Except we couldn't have kids, big bummer.
ReplyDeleteI got the 50's with a touch of the homestead. Just a touch, mind you. She'll spend money like crazy in the spring - plants, seeds, fertilizer, soil, mulch, pots, etc. and so forth. By mid-summer everything is burnt and dead, but every year she gives it the old college try. There's also a touch of crazy, but I just assume all women have that based on limited anecdotal experience.
