At first glance the back strap and grip look Walther-ish but the PP/PPK has an exposed hammer. You do know that a Daimler is a British car? They bought the name from Herr Daimler in the 1890s and built cars for the Royal family until replaced by Rolls-Royce. Al_in_Ottawa
For the discriminating Axis commander, the primary choice was the Mercedes-Benz 770 (W150) convertible. It seated seven and had an eight-cylinder 7.7 liters (469.88 CI) engine which produced 150 horsepower; adding a supercharger raised it to 200 HP. Adolf Hitler had one that was armor plated with bullet resistant glass.
I think the pistol is a Mauser HSc in 7.65. It wasn't a common sidearm.
It is a Sauer 38H. The ad says it has Silver inlaying and is extensively engraved. I would say this purely a fantasy piece and much, if not all of the intricate carving, was done long after the nahtsee period and not until computer programming made such things possible. I have mid-60's production Argentinian AF Browning HP that has "fantasy" German unit markings on it. If it looks to good to be true. Could it be authentic? Yes, anything is possible. Is this pistol authentic? I can't say for sure, but I doubt it. Jeffery in Alabama

So what would prestigious krauts have been driving in that time period? Nothing is worse than English cars…š

Based on the grip logo it's a Sauer...
ReplyDeleteThe wavy lines on the left seem "unGerman like".
