But… No, it can’t be art; my daughter fancies herself a gay artiste but the quality of her work betrays her. Her creepy girlfriend IS occasionally capable of good work but she’s utterly awful person…

Hmpfpfppffffff. Yeah…maybe crafts are the way to assess women and even men? There are any number of thoroughly revolting people masquerading as trendy and edgy cultural artistic leaders and influencers… but craftsmen and craftswomen seem to be generally real, solid people for whom the world is their canvas. They can express ideas and emotion AND produce a viable, useful object in the process.
