Well here we go! Yesterday I commenced the critical glue up of the wing halves. And…son of a birch!!!! There’s a liiiiiittle bit of warp to them. About 1/8 of an inch!!!
🤬
I know what did it too - it’s my home made wing spars. I couldn’t find the size I wanted, so I laminated my own out of 1/8” ply…they came out with slight bends but I figured the lay up process would square it back up. Scratch builders deal with bows in the wood all the time.
I lined up the leading and trailing edges, put weights and clamps down to hold everything straight and I THINK I might true it up a smidge after the epoxy sets. “It’ll trim out” is the forlorn prayer of most scratch builders.
When I left it last night, all was straight and true, and any incongruities weren’t visible to my eye. We’ll see what the tape measure says later this morn.
It’ll trim out…. It’ll trim out…
😬
