  1. I began drafting in 1984, a manual draftsman for a Mechanical - Electrical - Plumbing (MEP) engineer. I own the tools of those long ago days and remember feeling that pain of stooping over the paper when the work was on top of the sheet. I considered the person who invented that tube at bottom of drafting board that rolled the paper a saint. I worked on floor plans for all three mechanical disciplines, so when the architect made a change on their drawings, I had to do the work for the three different sheets. I probably still have electric eraser dust in the bottom of my lungs (quick - call a lawyer and find out if their is a class action lawsuit !!)

Now I 'draft' on a computer after 37 years of this occupation. Long gone hand lettering skills atrophied - haven't done that in years. Rotating the lead holder to maintain that thin line as you drew. All long gone.

That compass reminds me of my Mars-Staedler unit I have somewhere in my pile.

    Thanks for the post.
