The talons immediately give it away. I used to be a zookeeper (last millennium) and had tiny bit to do with raptors (* I used to work with large mammals & herpetofauna NOT birds). Smiling m'lady's arm would be instantly SHREDDED by an owl without a proper gauntlet.
I had a sizable barn in Southern Alabama and a Great Horned Owl decided that was it's home. it was huge, but not at this scale. Took care of my mice and rat, snake problem and a occasional barn cat when pickings were slim.

ReplyDeleteFake. Like Anon. said, the talons. Watch any show involving raptors and you'll note that all the handlers wear heavy leather gloves and gauntlets.

ReplyDeleteThat being said, Owls are HUGE birds! We had one land on a fence post in our corral. I had NO IDEA owls were that big!!!
