At the National Muzzle Loaders Association home range in Indiana, they used to have a muzzle loading trap shoot fairly regularly. During their annual convention, they had a "walking" shotgun shoot - it would be sort of analogous to regular sporting clays, but the targets wouldn't be as aggressive.
I bought a double barrel side-by-side black powder shotgun out of a pawn shop back in the 80's on a whim. Didn't know shit about it - some cheap Italian job. I had a 50 cal rifle and knew some basics on how to load, but no internet back then so the shotgun was strictly trial and error on my part. I tried many different ways to load up and shoot it, but never could really get it right. Eventually sold it. Would've made a great wall-hanger - looked cool as hell but never could shoot it worth a damn.
