Morning coffee break for me comes around 9:00am. The dawg is walked, the sidewalks are shovelled, the dishes are done, the garbage is out, and the other minor mundane jobs are done. Sometimes I go for another walk with the mutt… or putter around down in the Reclusium or find other chores to do…and sometimes I just park my arse on the veranda and watch the world go by. Sometimes I’ll light up a pipe, pour out a cup of black coffee… and listen in on a briefing by Doug MacGregor. This guy is informed, very well spoken and intelligent and reminds me of Stormin’ Norman. He is such a good speaker that you can ask him a question and he will just rock and roll with an explanation that addresses your question, and five others you haven’t asked yet, and 5 more you hadn’t even thought of asking. Lesiure Suit Larry and I used similar presentation styles back in the day.
Yesterday I was on the veranda with my pipe, coffee and MacGregor…and the last peaceful snows of winter. It was the perfect morn. We may still get some odd flurries (we had a blizzard in June once when I was a boy)…but the big permanent snow is pretty much done.
The geese stomped around, honking and glurting. I dunno how their feet don’t freeze but they don’t even seem to notice it.
The lakes were starting to melt but froze over again. There was no wind, the temps were very close to freezing and it only needs to warm up for a day or two and this stuff will be mostly gone. Eventually all this grey drove me inside.
It’s time for the next phase of the horrible Vegetable Putrfication Project. A couple weeks ago I made fermented radish pickles as soon as they were ready…I fear I scarfed the lot! They smelled horrible but tasted great!
๐
This time I’m trying it with an Insanity Chili Pepper, a few regular and little green onions and a clove of garlic.
We’ll see how it goes. For now… that’s about it. I hope you all have something good on the go this weekend…and thanks for dropping in.
Cheers,
Filthie
