Gawd ya gotta love this new breed a cheap guns. When I first started shooting if you were smart ya paid a gunsmith to tune your trigger. If ya was stupid ya did ya self and paid the smith to fix it. With this Ruger American it’s two screws, everything pops out of the stock, and one screw to tweak the trigger. Ya can’t mess this up; the adjustment range is perfect: 3 - 5 lbs. I set mine around 3-1/2 ish…and put her back together. It’ll be interesting to see if the zero shifts at all…

Probably the only Ruger that is easy to take apart and put back together. Ever mess with a Ruger MK-1? Cripes.

I have a pre Mk l and a Mk lll, dialing them in is an IQ enhancer...maybe a degrader...I forget. OH YEAH! I like .22's!
DeleteThat little automatic pistol…? That fuggin thing drives me nuts! I have Tourette’s syndrome because of it! Mine’s a Mk. 4 because it will drive you even crazier than the Mk. 1 will…

That's one of those things I don't get - I've always been mechanically curious and gifted. I took apart all my toys as a kid and then put them back together. I rebuilt car engines as a teen. Carbueraters (stupid french spelling) are still a mystery, but everything else I can figure out. Guns are super easy, although in some cases you do need a special tool (1911 front sight, I'm looking at you). I've got no problem taking a new gun apart, running a few pieces (lightly) over a well oiled Arkansas stone, and then putting it back together. The only time I paid a gunsmith, he screwed the gun up worse than I did and I spent more time fixing his damage than the gun was worth.
ReplyDeleteI mean, I understand others are different, but it's hard to fathom why people don't understand when it seems so simple to me. One of life's mysteries. I mean, I still don't understand wimmen and I been married 30 years, you'd think I'd catch on eventually.
Women are easy to understand once you realize they are phase shifted with different dimensions/planes/realms. I have nothing for operating instructions.
DeleteNot me… I gotta have a manual… and even then sometimes it’s too much. But I’m smart enough to know it when I’m beat…
DeleteI put a gen ll stock on my gen l Compact American, so that I could convert to the, much more reliable, AICS type magazine. Easy fix, tried dealing the rotary and regular stack mags but too many failures to feed.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I had a 1 inch shit at 160 yards (my longest distance on my convenient range) when I swapped out stocks.
Deletea 1 inch shit? I never really measured, but I'm pretty sure I've laid some 8 inch and occasionally longer shits after a high fiber meal. But hey, whatever works.
DeleteIf either a you two had anything to brag about, Don…you’d be measuring in pounds. Or if you were a champ like me…in Kg’s… 😂
DeleteInteresting bi-pod.
ReplyDeleteDo you like it?
Not really Joe. It’s just an outhouse Harris and I haven’t even used it yet. I just like the weight of it… mine’s a 223 and it is super light. That’s great for a long day in the field but for targets…I like my guns to be a smidge heavier…
DeleteDOH! 1 inch shit! Shift, the POImpact shifted. Thanks editor.
ReplyDeleteAny accuracy improvements, Mike…?
