I listen to the tall foreheads as they argue about the nature of time. Is it a dimension? Yes it is! No it’s not! Can time go backwards? Yes it can! No it’s not can’t! What about hypothetical time paradoxes? They’re impossible!!! No they’re not!!! Is time circular? Yes it is! No it’s not!!!

The current theory from the cool kids is that time doesn’t exist at all. Everything has already happened, we are all already dead; the stars of the universe burned down and went out… and time is just an illusion to organisms like us that could only perceive three dimensions. Time is just another axis on a Cartesian grid, and we and all our absent friends are alive and well, doing our thing at coordinates that - temporally speaking - are just round the corner and down the hill from each other. Our friends are all still there, alive and well. They love us, and they know we love them.

How many angels dance on the head of a pin? Is there room for God in that model of reality? Yes, there is! No, there’s not!!!

Somewhere, I am still a king. Mort and Macey wait patiently for me to get home from work and take them for their walks. It’s summer, and after our stroll it’ll be time to fire up the grill. Perhaps I’ll pop a beer. Perhaps heaven is where you find it?
