I’m not a sauce guy generally speaking. I can do BBQ, HP, Worcestershire, and some of the red hots. I’ve had A-1 before but I’m largely indifferent…HP is the much better option.

  1. For the most part I agree, A1 is nasty and most of the others unnecessary if you know how to grill. However in the current economy getting a "good" cut of steak requires a motherfucking second mortgage. Therefore we'll make do with some of the mystery meat cuts and put a little washyoursister sauce on it.

    1. Yes indeed Don. We made some fairly decent "Hamburger Steaks" a few nights ago with brown gravy and onions and mashed taters. Not steak and yet not bad at all. When raising our family on just my income alone, so momma could stay home with the kids, we enjoyed many a "hobo dinner", Burger, Potato, Carrot and Celery wrapped in foil and baked at 350 for an hour. We loved it then and still do. Spiro

    2. Hamburger steak and gravy was a staple at my house growing up back in the 70's. Always a good meal. The hobo meal was a camping favorite with the cub scouts. Good times.

  2. I hate when people pour that crap on a steak without even taking a bite first. They are assuming the cook screwed it up, which is rude

  3. On rare occasions I'll put a little sauce on the side of my plate, but frankly, if you need sauce it's either a poor quality steak or the retard on the grill ruined it - or both. As for sauce, A1 or Heinz 57. Worcestershire is for bloody marys, and I've never heard of HP.

BBQ sauce? There's one for every southerner with a grill.

  4. A1 and Heinz 57 are both good on a burger, but not at the same time. Just like mayo and mustard. Worcestershire sauce is supplementary salt when you're cooking the burgers.
