Well, I don’t do astrology either.
I suppose if you’re a gin swilling Beef Eater like WL Emery,
you might have an affinity for maybe a stylish halberd.
I’d rather have a Flemish war bow myself.
Maybe a cutlass or a 17th century basket hilted Claymore…
In reality, there are only four.
ReplyDeleteKnife on a stick (poke & stab): ranseur, spetum, partisan, military fork, spear.
Cleaver on a stick (swing & cut): glaive, guisarme, fauchard, voulge, bardiche.
Hammer on a stick (swing & smash/poke): bec-de-corbin, lucerne hammer.
Swiss Army stick (all of the above): halberd, pole axe.
Which is best for general use? The spear. Which is best against a man in heavy armor? The bec-de-corbin.
I have a lucern hammer, used to be very proficient with it back in the day. The hook on the back is great for unbalancing opponents or pulling down shield walls.
ReplyDeleteI never did master shield and sword. I set up a pell in the backyard a few years ago that the teens use to practice on.

The only "pole arm" I'd want would be with a full choke.
