I’ve always had a fire starting kit in my plunder that has matches, a Bic, and strips of birch bark. I did most of my hunting and camping in spruce-moose country where getting a fire going is almost always a piece of cake. I’ve played with other fire starting methods but in real life my crappy little kit is all I’ve ever needed.
I like the concept! And it seems like it might be a good project to share with the kids after Christmas, when cabin fever starts to set in.
